Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who can use the training materials on this website?
The staff training materials offered on this website are being collected from Teen Challenge centers around the world and added to this website for the benefit of all. Our goal is to provide comprehensive training to address all the different areas of Teen Challenge work, targeting staff at different levels of leadership and experience. These training resources are designed to assist those who are just entering Teen Challenge work all the way up to top-level leaders with years of experience.

2. How can these courses be used?
These courses are designed for staff and volunteers working at Teen Challenge and for others who have an interest in learning how to work with people struggling with addictions and other life-controlling problems.

  • You can download and use these courses for personal study.
  • You can download these courses and use them in training the staff at your location.
  • You can download these materials and use them as the basis for developing your own teaching    materials to use in training staff at your location.

These courses may not be sold to others. We offer these as free resources for training.

3. What is available for each course?
Our long-range goals are to offer a variety of resources for each staff training course offered on this website. Here is a list of the resources that may be included. Not all courses will have all of these items.

Video files for most courses are too long to place on this website. If they are listed for a specific course, the video or audio files can be obtained by contacting the Global Teen Challenge office on the “Contact Us” page. There may be a cost to have those materials shipped to you.

4. What if I cannot open one of the files I have downloaded?
Your computer may need additional software if you are unable to open some of the files you have downloaded. Here are the links to free software that you can download to be able to open and read or view these files. Click on the name of the program that you want to download to go to their website.

Adobe Reader: to open PDF files
PowerPoint Reader: to open PowerPoint files
Microsoft Word Reader: to open Microsoft Word files
Open Office: A full featured group of programs that enables you to open all of the above files.
Windows Media Player: to view and listen to media files. note: Your computer must have the needed hardware and software to be able to view and listen to the media files.

5. What if I cannot download the materials?
Your computer may have a pop-up blocker or other feature turned on which is preventing you from downloading the files. You may need to turn that feature off before you can download the files.

6. How can I use the audio and video files?

  1. The audio and video files can be downloaded and played on your computer or MP3 player.
  2. You can play the media file directly from the iTeenChallenge.org website, using your computer’s media player. The speed of your internet connection will have a major effect on how well this feature works.

7. Are these courses available in languages other than English?
On the HOME page of this website is a button “Other Languages” with information on the languages which are currently on this website. Also, on the “Course Title Page” of each staff training course you can also see which languages have materials included in that course on this website.

At the present time, only a small number of courses are available in languages other than English. We are very interested in expanding the resources and courses in other languages. If you would like to help with the translation of these materials, or if you already have staff training courses, student curriculum, or resources in other languages, please contact the Global Teen Challenge office at the address listed on the “Contact Us” page.

8. What is the cost of these materials?
All the materials which can be downloaded from this website are free.

If you are unable to download the materials, you can contact the Global Teen Challenge office at the address listed on the “Contact Us” page, and make arrangements to have those materials shipped to you. There may be a cost to having these materials shipped to you.

Some courses recommend books to use as a text for the course. See the next answer for more details on how to purchase these materials.

9. How do I purchase the books and other resources recommended in this website?
We have identified a number of books and other resources that we recommend either as textbooks for some of these courses, or as additional resource for further study on a given topic. You may already have a source in your country for purchasing these resources.

Below is the link to several on-line bookstores where you can purchase new and used books. Some of these have listings in a variety of countries and some offer books in different languages. Many do international shipments. Prices of books can be dramatically different from one site to another.

At the Bookspot website, in the buttons on the left side, they have a “Where to Buy” list of categories. The “used books” category provides links to many different bookstores.

10. How can I submit additional training materials to be added to this website?
We are very interested in expanding the resources offered on this website. If you have any training that you would like to see included in this website, please contact the Global Teen Challenge office at the address listed on the “Contact Us” page. You can request a list of the guidelines for submitting new materials. Global Teen Challenge retains full authority to decide whether or not new materials will be added to the website.

11. Are certificates offered for those who complete these courses?
Global Teen Challenge is committed to providing a wide variety of staff training courses for personal or group training. However, Global Teen Challenge is not currently issuing certificates of completion for those who complete these courses. That is entirely the responsibility of the local Teen Challenge to determine what recognition will be given to those who complete these courses.

12. Can I receive college credit for completing these courses?
Global Teen Challenge does not offer college credit for any of the courses offered on this website. However, Global University is partnering with Global Teen Challenge to offer college credit for some of the courses available through this website. You need to work through the national coordinator for Global University in your country to obtain information on how you can receive college credit for any training completed. There likely will be additional costs associated with receiving college credit. You can contact Global University at

13. What if I find mistakes in the training materials on this website?
