How to use this website

What is on this website?

The “Home” page of the website has buttons to take you to the different areas of resources on this website. This is a new website, still under construction, so many of the planned features will be expanded in the months ahead.

Staff Training contains a wide variety of staff training courses for those working at Teen Challenge. Courses will be offered in several different languages.
Click here to go directly to Staff Training.
See below for additional information on how the Staff Training materials are organized.

Student Curriculum provides curriculum used in training the students in the Teen Challenge programs. The Group Studies for New Christians and the Personal Studies for New Christians curriculum are offered in this site in languages other than English. How are the staff training materials organized?

Tracks . . . Topics . . . Courses

First--8 Training Tracks in the left column

The Staff Training materials are grouped into eight major “Tracks.” When you click on one of the eight Tracks, it will reveal all the “Topics” under that Track.

Second--Training Topics in the middle column

On the sample page below, when you click on Track T1:  Organizational Leadership, all of the Topics included in that track show up in the middle column (in the red box below). When you select any of the other Tracks in the left column, a new set of topics come up associated with that new track.

In the example below, there are several courses listed under this topic. If you selected any other Topic in the middle column, a new list of courses would come up related to that Topic.

Fourth--Select a Staff Training Course in the right column

When you click on one of the Courses in the right column, a “Course Title Page” will come up, giving basic information about the course.

If the course is available in more than one language, those languages will be listed in the drop down menu The number after each language tells how many items are available for download with this course.

Downloading materials off this website

You must be on the Course Title Page before you can download any items. Follow the steps listed above to choose the course you wish to download. Once you are on the Course Title Page, you are ready to start downloading materials.

In the lower part of the Course Title Page you will see the list of materials that are available for viewing or downloading. However, you can only see the items in one language at a time.

1.  The sample listed below shows the download items available in English. If you want to download items in another language, you must first select that language in the drop down language menu on the right. The number after each language tells you the number of items that are available for download in that language. Not all items are available in each language.

2.  You can simply click on the “Download” button after the title, and it will download that item to your computer.

3.  You can click on the title itself, and another box will come up with more detailed information about the course and that particular item. You can then click the download button and view or save the document to your computer.

4.  The materials you can download are divided into two categories—Required and Supplemental. The “Required” materials are those that have been designed for use with this course. The “Supplemental” materials are resources that relate to the issues covered in this course. The supplemental materials may be helpful if you desire to do further study on this issue.

5.  When you select a specific course, and the Course Title Page comes up, you will also see a new line appearing right above the Course Title Page. In the sample below it shows the selections you made to get to this course. If you wish to go back, you can simply click on any of the listings in that line. Or you can click on one of the 3 tabs at the top right--Staff Training, Student Curriculum, or Resources to go to the beginning of each of these areas.

Different levels of staff training

The staff training courses are offered at three levels.

Level 1 courses are for entry level staff, providing basic level training for new staff and others involved in day-to-day work responsibilities at Teen Challenge.

Level 2 courses are for mid-level leaders, targeted for staff who already have experience in Teen Challenge work and are involved in supervising other staff.

Level 3 courses are advanced courses, targeted for staff who provide supervision of the Teen Challenge program and serve in top-level leadership of the major divisions of the organization.

All of these courses can be used for personal study, or they can be used for training the staff in your organization.

Some of the training courses may be more relevant depending on the responsibilities assigned to a staff. However, in one sense, every staff is a leader at some level, and leadership skills need to be developed to enhance one’s effectiveness in working at Teen Challenge.

What is available for each course?

Our long-range goals are to offer a variety of resources for each course offered on this website. Here is a list of the materials that may be included. Not all courses will have all of these items.

  1. Audio file
  2. Video file (See note below)
  3. PowerPoint presentation
  4. Teacher notes/Teacher Manual
  5. Student text book
  6. Notesheet for participants
  7. Study guide
  8. Test
  9. Supplemental resources related to this course

Video files for most courses are too long to place on this website. If they are listed for a specific course, the video or audio files can be obtained by contacting the Global Teen Challenge office on the “Contact Us” page. There may be a cost to have those materials shipped to you.

Using the “Search” tool

Because the website is still under construction, the search tool works only in the “Staff Training” & “Student Curriculum” sections of the website. You can use it to search for courses and resources. The Search tool is located in the top right corner of the pages in the Staff Training section of the website. Click here to read more.

This website is still under development

This website has only recently started, and so there are many topics which do not yet have courses on line. Our goal in the months ahead is to continue to add more staff training courses and supplemental resources, and in several languages.

Translations of these courses

If you would like to assist in translating any of these staff training resources, please contact the Global Teen Challenge office at gtc@globaltc.org before you start and we will send you guidelines for translation.

If you have any one of these courses already translated and it is not offered in that language on this website, please contact us at the address above and we will arrange to get it from you and offer it on this website.

Feedback and evaluations

Your feedback is most helpful as we develop this website. We welcome your feedback on how we can make this website more user friendly.

If you teach one of these courses, or if you are a student in one of these courses, please send us your feedback.

We would also like your feedback on courses that are not yet available. We would like to know which courses would be your highest priority for us to offer. We welcome your comments and suggestions.

Send your feedback and comments to gtc@globaltc.org
