Advanced Studies for New Life in Christ

Mary’s father was a Pastor of a small Hispanic church that befriended David when he visited the city to minister to the gang members. This teaching on counseling the drug addict is being taught by David Wilkerson, founder of Teen Challenge. It was recorded in the late 1970’s at Wilkerson’s Twin Oaks Leadership Academy in Lindale, Texas. Wilkerson had been working with alcoholics, drug addicts, gang members and prostitutes for nearly 20 years at the time. The advice he gives future Teen Challenge workers is still useful today.

The national accreditation standards require that a program is documenting, at least monthly, a student’s progress towards reaching the goals that must be reached to complete. An easy way to do this that helps the center both maintain compliance and provide a useful report for the student to learn how they’re really doing, is found in this student progress report.

Download a copy, modify it in any way that is needed to make it specific for your center, then have the designated staff start using it on a monthly basis or use it in a staff meeting as a tool to evaluate student progress. Teen Challenge New South Wales Research Project

This research project was conducted on behalf of Teen Challenge in New South Wales, Australia. This independent study was conducted by Dr. Danuta Chessor of the Centre for Health Research, School of Psychology at the University of Western Sydney. The project was completed In January 2012. It evaluated the effectiveness of the Teen Challenge adult men’s residential program in Yarramundi, just outside of Sydney.

This is a brief 2 page overview of the alumni survery commissioned by Teen Challenge of Chattanooga, Inc. in 1994 to assess the effectiveness of its program in helping drug addicts find freedom from their addictions. The survey was conducted by Dr. Roger Thompson, Head of the Criminal Justice Department at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The study determined that graduates of this Teen Challenge program had a 67% success rate in living a drug and alcohol free lifestyle.

Overview of Federal Government study of Teen Challenge

A brief 2 page overview of the Federal Government study of Teen Challenge 1976. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), part of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, funded the first year of this study to evaluate the long term results of Teen Challenge program. This study focused on all students in the class of 1968 that entered Teen Challenge in Brooklyn, NY, and then transferred to Teen Challenge in Rehrersburg, PA, for the second half of their training. This follow-up study seven years later (1975) sought to determine six variables: what proportion of the program participants were still drug free, no legal involvements, employed or pursuing education, a part of a family unit, participating in church activities, and physical and mental health.

Report on Teen Challenge Indianapolis Study — Female Adolescent 1992

Detailed Review of Northwestern University Study 1999

This 12 page review of the 1999 Northwestern University research project on Teen Challenge was written by Andrew Kenney, a professor at Vanguard University. Northwestern University produced a major study of Teen Challenge graduates from across the USA, surveying graduates of the three largest Teen Challenge centers in the USA. This research project, conducted by PhD candidate Aaron Bicknese, was the first of its kind to survey Teen Challenge graduates on a national scope. The three Teen Challenge centers providing the source of graduates for this research project are located in Rehrersburg, PA, Cape Girardeau, MO, and Riverside, CA. These centers work with males only. The focus of this study was to assess the effectiveness of the Teen Challenge approach to treatment of drug and alcohol addiction by surveying graduates who had been out of Teen Challenge for 12, 18 and 24 months. Results indicated that Teen Challenge had great success with those who came from severely dysfunctional family backgrounds with long term addictions.

This teaching on counseling the drug addict is being taught by David Wilkerson, founder of Teen Challenge. It was recorded in the late 1970’s at Wilkerson’s Twin Oaks Leadership Academy in Lindale, Texas. Wilkerson had been working with alcoholics, drug addicts, gang members and prostitutes for nearly 20 years at the time. The advice he gives future Teen Challenge workers is still useful today.

Understanding the Bible – English – Course

In the first part, author Dorothy Johns introduces the principles, terminology, and means of interpretation that are essential to all effective methods of Bible study.
